Music, Dance & More at Kala Ghoda Festival

Submitted by

Kala Ghoda Arts festival installation Mumbai’s favorite cultural festival is here again. Kala Ghoda Arts Festival kicks off tomorrow with hosts of events lined up till February 10th, 2008. The quiet surroundings of Kala Ghoda undergo a major transformation during the festival. It is buzzing with activities, there is a wonderful display of paintings, innovative creations, pavement shows, food stalls, and a lot more.

There are events in music, dance, visual arts, theater, cinema, literature, heritage and street and children’s programs. Last year, the event was great fun and a good learning experience, and am sure this year too it will live up to the expectations.

So lets have a look into what’s in store for us. There are workshops on photography, writing, poetry-reading, street plays including a recital on Shakespeare by Alyque Padamsee. If you are an art lover then just a walk down the Kala Ghoda road is a treat for your eyes. It will be filled with mural paintings, images of the city, etc.Designed Mannequin Bust

For dance lovers there are performances on every possible genre from Bharat Natyam to ballet and flamenco. A blend of classical, folk and tribal dance will celebrate India’s pluralism. A very interesting event this year, and something which I am very tempted to go for is learning about coin minting machinery and process at the Mint, which will be opened by the RBI for the first time since 1993 bomb blasts.

Every year to give it a vintage touch is the ‘Vintage Car Rally‘ accompanied by the Navy Band. It generally takes place early morning, so I’ve missed it every year. An exciting plethora of events, isn’t it? So make it a point not to miss this one, and you will probably see me there clicking away to glory!
