Grow Your Veggies in Urban Homes
Finally an update since our last update, good bye global warming, we received a couple of comments where people stated, they hope that global warming existed because people are really changing and showing concern for the environment.
We say, why do you need to have fear to change? We are moving away from the fear and going to be showing you ways in which you can incorporate change to help becoming self sustainable and live a better life. Today we shall take a look at the open source window farms project.
Living in cities like Mumbai, the source of your vegetables could be just besides the railway track, where the nutrients are supplied from the sewer running besides it. If you want to see this first hand, take a central line train and stand at the door.
But what if an urban dweller could grow his own vegetables indoor. This is exactly what the window farms project enables a person to do. You don’t need much, the setup consists of many 1.5 liter bottles, a small pump, tubes, some clay pieces and thats mostly it.
Take a look at this video to see how it works,
What’s even better is that the window farms project comes with a community who is continuously testing and refining the methods used to build the window farm. This in turn would help you have a more efficient system, this seems fit for all those living in Mumbai or any other city.
This will not only help you eat healthier and become self sufficient, but it also curbs down on green house gases emitted while transporting and mass cultivation of these veggies. You can also download the pdf guides that will help teach you how to create your own window farm. For more guides and to be part of the window farms community, you can register.
