The Key to Feeling Fulfilled Now

“By letting go of our insatiable desire to fix and change everyone and everything around us, we give ourselves the space to focus our attention on the true source of our own happiness, success and fulfillment… Ourselves!” ~ Mike Robbins

At any given moment, we have but one task, one “goal” per se that should be achieved. That task is to be and feel fulfilled. In this life of ours, it is really the only thing we can and should strive for.

Feel-Alive and fulfilledNow for most, the idea of a perfectly fulfilled existence probably looks nothing like the life they are living right now. Maybe they do not have the job they truly want, they don’t have their dream car or are not in that fairy tale relationship they always hoped for.

So they struggle. They struggle, and try this tactic and they try that tactic in order to reach this alleged “finish line” of fulfillment. “When I have reached this goal, or when I have bought that house, THEN I will feel happy,” they say to themselves.

At this point life becomes an endless merry go round of wanting and then acquiring and then wanting again. It seems as if no “thing” outside of us ever really brings us the long lasting fulfillment we had hoped it would.

Dream cars are replaced for the craving for the newer model. Amazing relationships lose their passion only to be replaced with the desire for a newer, more exciting one. Or even worse, we get so accustomed to the “wanting” to be fulfilled, that we start to identify with it as our sense of self. We attach ourselves to the notion that we are not yet happy or perfect, therefore our entire life story becomes about being the person who is searching for fulfillment.

Anytime our ego has attached to a “problem” or a “reason” to exist, we can be assured that when fulfillment comes crashing down around us, we will be less likely to recognize it for what it really is.

Since it threatens our sense of self, which is a person who is unfulfilled, we may not be willing to accept it and be grateful for it when we find it. If there is no “problem” to be solved, what will we base our sense of self on? Perhaps all this searching and striving for a fulfilling life is the very thing that eludes us from ever receiving it.

Is it possible that in the constant wanting, struggling and striving to be in this alleged future place or life situation is the exact thing that prevents from realizing a very powerful and healing truth that we may have never considered? Is it possible… that we are actually already completely fulfilled right this very second and it was only our ego that had us believing that “there” was better than “here”?

“Happiness is a state of mind, a choice, a way of living; it is not something to be achieved, it is something to be experienced” ~ Dr. Steve Maraboli

In all actuality, true happiness and fulfillment can be called upon any time you want. It’s a choice we make based on our perception of reality. If our perception of life is that we are constantly unfulfilled and not yet happy, we cannot be surprised when the world we see is reflecting back to us these beliefs.

We’ve all met that person or most likely at one time or another we’ve been that person, that never seems to be satisfied with anything. They can literally find something “wrong” about any given situation.

In their underlying belief that nothing is ever quite “right” or “good enough”, they are able to find flaws in everything and everyone they meet to some extent or another. And so an entire life is wasted never truly being grateful for what they already had, and instead is spent wanting or striving to be something they felt they were not.

However, only in our complete and utter acceptance and belief that the present moment is the most perfect moment we have ever lived will we be able to attract more perfect present moments.

feeling fulfilledIn our choosing of complete fulfillment right this very second no matter what the external circumstance around us, we are able to not only get out of our mind’s processing of a situation (instead of the situation itself), but we begin to train ourselves to find the “good” in all circumstances which will in turn have us in a vibration of gratitude. Gratitude for what we already have is the only way to receive more.

A problem occurs when our ego hears this and thinks, “but if I’m happy with what I already have, what if this is all I”m gonna get? What if I accept and am grateful for THIS life and I end up missing out on the life I TRULY want?”

At this point the ego starts to resonate in complete resistance of the “what is” of the present moment. Instead of trusting that life flows naturally and each situation we are brought to is meant to further our evolution in awareness, the ego starts judging situation and naming them as “wrong” or “right.”

In the resistance to the present moment, naming it as “not good enough” or “not what I wanted”, we inhibit the path of least resistance from taking over and bringing us to the places we are truly meant to go.

It is only in our trust that life is happening and flowing exactly as it is supposed to and gratitude for the things in our life that we can be happy about are we able to access an intelligence that is far greater than our own. Life is going to change regardless. If we want to have a life story that keeps recreating situations of unfulfilled expectations over and over we most certainly can.

joy is what happens to usWe can keep finding ourselves in the same situations over and over with just different details or even worse we can emotionally regress and find ourselves angry, or depressed about what became of us.

Or, we can choose to feel completely fulfilled right this very second. At this point all “craving” to be something we are not drops away. We will feel nourished, and whole. We will find that our health gets better, we naturally stop looking to “addictions” to make us feel happy.

We will also find that life naturally brings us to bigger and better opportunities for growth without very little effort of our own mind and ego. Choose happiness, choose to be fulfilled right this very second and watch how you become your complete self naturally.
