Sacred Catastrophe : The Power of Initiation

“You desire to know the art of living, my friend? It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering.” ~ Henri-Frédéric Amiel

Things fall apart. Life is less about receiving flowers and rainbows and sunshine and more about how well you navigate the thorns the storms and the darkness. On a long enough timeline, everything you know is swallowed by entropy. Sacred Catastrophe is inevitable. But so what?

As Theodore Rubin said, “The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.”

So, making the best of what you have, while also appreciating it, is a sound and healthy strategy. This is the epitome of sacred catastrophe.

The opposite of entropy is exergy: improvement, increase, rise, aggregation. Exergy is a combination property of an individual with his/her environment because it depends on the state of both the individual and the environment.
