Dear , As we begin a new week with hope in our hearts, there are a few things to remember that can keep us aligned to our path.
1) Begin your day with 3 positive thoughts
As we wiggle our way out of bed, think of three positive things that will bring a smile to your face. To give you an example, I thought that I would climb the hill today (my saving grace from the madness of city life), do a yoga routine, and plant some seeds as the season is getting right to grow vegetables. This also helps to gather our thoughts and channel them in the right direction.
You can think of whatever you would like that will nourish your soul. It could also be talking to a friend you haven't spoken to in a long time. When we begin our day on a positive note, it improves the quality of our day. 2) Read a spiritual book
Make some time in your busy routine to read a spiritual book of your choice. You are feeding your brain a meaningful, soul-nourishing, perspective-shifting narrative. This is a healthy practice for your mind, it keeps you grounded and aligned to your path. I take the book I am currently reading, 'Autobiography of a Yogi,' when I take my daughter to play, it keeps me happy that I am doing something meaningful and uplifting.
3) Revel in simple joys
The world is going berserk with consumerism increasing manifold. To protect your sanity is an arduous task. We have all fallen victim to this aspect of society, but at least we are mindful of it. Relish the simple joys of life, looking at the sunset, a peaceful stroll, or enjoying a cup of coffee by yourself, a smile on your child's face, the sweet fragrance of flowers, a warm hug from your loved one, and so on. Life is about deriving pleasure from simple joys because it speaks to your heart.
4) Embrace Silence
Silence is precious, when we sit in silence for 10 minutes a day, it does wonders for the racing mind and thoughts. I am sure some of you might be doing it already, if not, then here's a gentle nudge to get back to it. Silence means sitting quietly, without any phone or screen around you.
5) Words of Gratitude
It makes you feel better, and even the person receiving it. If someone opens the lift door for you, or allows you to take the cab, saying, 'thank you,' goes a long way in changing our mood. Anyway, what is there to say a thank you to the person who has helped you in their own small way?
I hope this helps you through the week, and I hope to hear from you if it has or even hasn't. How would you start your day? Any particular practice that you follow and would like to share?
