Hi ,
For young children, repetition is healthy ? The same routine and rhythm gives them security, comfort, and nourishes their overall well-being. Repetition is what strengthens a skill set - whether it is for an athlete, sportsperson, yoga practitioner, musician, artist, there is repetition in their action - it gives them confidence, a sense of belongingness, security.
For example, in my yoga practice, I have to keep practicing the same asanas to move to an advance posture. So repetition takes me deeper into my practice. But sometimes repetition can be harmful, when you keep repeating negative habitual patterns, outdated thought processes, or a negative belief system. In such cases, repetition can prove disastrous until you take powerful steps to correct those thought patterns. Our conditioning or unresolved wounds keep us stuck in a repetitive loop of despair and agony. We have to break this cycle of repeated negative patterns, alter our perception, and bring a much-needed change in the way we lead our lives. Repetition might also get monotonous and dull, stifling our creativity and drying our imagination. Nature repeats itself - day and night, sunset and sunrise, seasonal cycles, yet there is a certain amount of newness and freshness in that repetition. A regular review of the way we lead our lives would be helpful to bring about a change, to shake things up a bit, to birth a new idea, or find new ways to execute it. If you feel you are stuck in a cycle of repeating the same old ways and patterns, time to test new shores!
