Hi ,
Today was our 7-year old's school annual day, there is always a certain amount of happiness and joy when you watch young children perform on stage.
To watch each one trying to remember their lines and songs, was a fun experience. What's interesting is that even if they make mistakes or goof up with a few lines, they just continue with what they recollect and proceed. There isn't too much thinking involved, they go with the flow.
One of the things that was pointed out by the school's founders, and it really struck a chord with us, is that, in spite of all the goof ups and errors, young children continue doing it with joy. That makes the whole experience very special.
No matter how many mistakes they make, young children are always in the moment. Until conditioning takes over, and they begin to become self-conscious and aware of what others would think about them.
As adults we are so much in our head, that the moment we make a mistake, we tend to feel embarrassed, or begin to doubt ourselves, which is okay because we experience a range of emotions. But at the same time, we stop living from a place of joy.
A lesson well learnt today, that no matter what, keep the sense of joy alive within you, it just makes this thing called life a little more tolerable!
