Reflections - The Journey Within

“It is necessary for a man to go away by himself to sit on a rock and ask, 'Who am I, where have I been, and where am I going?” - Carl Sandburg

When I was sItting by the lake, looking at the reflection of the deep blue sky in the serene waters, I thought to myself that reflection is an important act.

Spending time to reflect on one's life,  actions and thoughts, helps in understanding oneself and altering the habituated mind patterns.  Like a mirror, our thoughts reflect the inner workings of ourselves; the subconscious perceptions that we hold about our individual Self and everyone around us.  Everyone we see in the world is a reflection of ourselves.

Lets make time in daily life to reflect and gain that emotional freedom. Here are a few articles that will assist you with your personal transformation.

When ‘Thinking Positive’ Doesn’t Seem to be Working

“Life is not about being perfect, it’s about being real” – Unknown

Emotions are an inevitable part of the human experience. They can have us on top of the world or in the depths of despair, but if nothing else, they remind us that we are alive. Usually, “good” emotions are welcomed with open arms into our life experience, while perceived “bad” emotions are avoided at all costs. People use anything from drugs & alcohol to denial to avoidance to blame, all just to protect themselves from having to feel anything.

Day or night, everywhere you look, life reflects the truth into your eyes. We create our own reality. From the moment, you first open your eyes to greet the day, is your first thought one of joy and anticipation of adventure?

Are you thankful for the replenishing sleep, the comfort of your dwelling space? If so, then you are creating a marvelous beginning to a day of promise and contentment.

The Reinvention of Oneself

MyIdentity_KatB

There are many things a person is capable of achieving in their life – one of them is the capacity to reinvent our self; to leave behind things that don’t serve us, and embrace those we think as valuable. As opposed to machines who invariably respond as programmed, we can change our behavior at will.

Our past conditions us, but it doesn’t define us. It can leave a strong imprint on certain aspect of our personhood, like our personality or alter our perspective of the world, but its effect is never too strong to impede us from transforming ourselves. Let us grow away from our past, if we wish, and head towards a vision.

Four Steps toward Authentic Engagement

Authentic Engagement

“The thing that is really hard and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” ~ Anna Quindlen

1.) Relationship with Self:

Authentic engagement begins first and foremost with self-worth. We’ve all been in those funks where we wonder why we feel so hollow, so black-and-white, so humdrum and boring, like all joy has been squeezed out of us. Somewhere between playful-child and responsible-adult we abandoned our self-worth. It’s time we got it back.
