Space is one of the key elements in nature as it gives rise to other elements - air, fire, water, and earth. It is space that makes everything possible. All things arise in it and return to it. Space is everywhere, it's all around you. We orient ourselves in terms of space we have access to. If you didn't have space, you wouldn't be able to move around and do things. There are different connotations attached to space, which I realized while reflecting on my own life and how I crave to get some space, not literally, but metaphorically. Human beings are like flowers, they should be allowed space inside and outside in order to blossom and be happy. We all need space, it's a symbol of liberty. When we don’t get that space, we feel confined and repressed. I need my space, you say, which means you need some free time to think, to breathe. Our days are so packed that getting space is a privilege. Sometimes our emotions create havoc, and you can’t think straight. You feel like someone is strangling you, and you need to loosen the grip in order to breathe. Getting your space helps you with clarity in thinking. Even holding space for someone is like feeling and caring about someone without judging them or their situation. It's about understanding, and giving them space to process their emotions. So here’s to getting the space you want, literally and metaphorically, in life, and finding your sacred space to be your ownself.

We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.

Healing After Abuse: The Importance of Holding Space for Yourself
To just be is, of course, infinite wisdom. But to many of us that may not be enough of an explanation. Letting go is a frightening thing to comprehend, precisely because it may lead us in directions we’d prefer not to go.

A Shower Meditation
It isn't easy to make the time for self care everyday, yet to incorporate it into your life isn't difficult. Here's something that can assist the process, a simple shower meditation.
To start a shower meditation, pay attention to how the water feels on your skin and in your hair. Hear the sounds of the water drops. While cleaning, apply soap to the tense areas and massage them. Direct your breath to those places. How does the water feel when it flows over your head and down your neck?
Deeply inhale the fragrances that surround you. Take a step back from the water when you finish showering before turning it off. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Breathe into your feet, increasing the gap between your toes, and plant your feet firmly into the ground.
Consider repeating a mantra to prepare yourself for the day ahead.

5 Ways to Meditate without Meditating
Many people may not know is that you don’t actually have to “meditate” to meditate. Meaning… you don’t technically have to sit cross legged, with palms facing up chanting “ommmmmmm” in a room of complete silence in order to get the health benefits of a meditation practice.

6 Self-Care Practices to Try On
Self-care is unique. One person’s self-care is another’s self-poison. My friend Jay, owns a comic book & bubble tea shop. When asked “Jay, what soothes your soul?” He replied, “Reading the Perry Bible Fellowship comic, every Sunday. I especially like the hard to get jokes. They are like brainteasers for immature intellectuals.” To which I replied, “to each their own.”
