Hello ,

We had a little mishap with our 5-year old son yesterday, he
recently picked up cycling and on a slow turn on a slope he fell onto a rock and broke his leg.

So we went for an X-ray and when I saw the fracture I nearly broke down, we're both emotionally sensitive people, and we were recommended to go to a doctor.

Now, the first doctor we went to did not even look at Kavie or check him or comfort him. He just glanced at the X-ray and said, "Oh this is bad it may not heal properly, we will need to do an operation and wire the bones, so there's no problem in future, or he may get a limp.

Can you imagine what it feels like for parents to hear something like this? Then he goes on further to tell us the operation costs which was shocking and upon asking he told us that there's a 50% chance that a plaster will work.

The plaster cost at his place was Rs 6000 and the operation would be 10 times more. We decided to get a second opinion and the doctor was an elderly gentleman who looked at the X-ray and said ah you're lucky that the bones are in line and it will heal well with no issues, if they had to separate then we would have had to do an operation, but there's no need of that. He charged us a third of what the other doctor asked for.

These are two doctors practising in the same region, one ready to take advantage of the situation with fear so they can reap benefits, which we witness so often through life, fear based marketing.

But for someone who is supposed to heal, plays with the emotions, even when Bhavika is expecting to increase the turmoil that one is going through? Does this person deserve to be a man of medicine?

Then if I have to expand my perception and zoom out a bit from the doctors, if I put in politicians, the health industry, the news, everyday we see ways that fear is being used to herd us into choices. The good medicine men are dying, in every tangent of society we lack people who are driven by passion and love, the lack of caring is mostly the norm and greed is in the driver's seat.

I would ask each one of you to just a hold a thought for us, and especially little Kavie, thank you.

Much Love,
Bhavika & Clyde
