Childhood memories are closely connected to stories. Do you remember snuggling with your mother or father, even grandparents, on the bed as they took you on a visual odyssey with their stories?
The memory I have of my childhood is my grandmother talking about her childhood days she spent growing up in a village climbing trees, plucking fruits, running around in open fields, looking at the starry sky and so on. It was so fascinating to hear about her vibrant experiences.
It is these original stories told by our caregivers that become a part of who you are. Now as a grown up, I have realised my connection with nature has a lot to do with the stories I heard as a child.
Stories play such an important role in our lives. From a child listening to a story with awe and wonder, to an adult searching for an inspirational story to motivate him in their life, stories can be life-changing. Stories are powerful - they can be healing, inspiring, scary, sad, it can conjure up all kinds of emotions within us.
Stories can touch our heart, stories help us in times of difficulty, to make our way through challenges. Like the hero's journey, which takes us through our darkest hours until we find our gold. We are all a living story, writing it each moment, each day. The choice is ours whether we choose to write a sad story, an inspiring one or one that makes it worth living.
