Pain, it is such a big part of our lives. No one can really escape it. We either bury it deep inside, and it shows up in various form, depending on the intensity. It can be anger, frustration, sadness, depression, anxiety, addiction and so on. It shows up in all the unhealthy ways. As the above quote goes, if we channelise it in the right direction, we won’t let pain get the better of us. The best music has been created by artists who have been through a lot in their lives. Some of the best poems have been written by poets who have turned pain into strength. There is something about pain that takes you into another realm and if, only if, you choose to tune into that energy, you get into a flow state. Personally for me, rather both of us, it is when I am in pain or experiencing an intense situation that words begin to flow through me, it becomes a pathway to reach a liberated state of mind. Pain becomes a medium to tune into this collective unconscious and then, at least for the moment, you feel liberated. There is nothing that can come between you and your preferred medium of art. Because you have the power within you to transform this tremendously painful feelings into a more empowered one. Choose to paint, choose to draw, knit, gardening, sing, dance, read, let the pain live in your art. A friend recently told me these same words - your body is not a coffin to be buried in - and that’s when this quote stuck a chord. Let go and surrender to the will of the universe, and hope for the best!
