Hi , Our current reality seems to be an illusion, or at least things are not what they seem to be. I recently watched a video by Alan Watts, and it was a reality check on the way we all live our lives.
It was like a slap on the face. The example cited by Watts was a embroidered cloth, where the front is all neat and tidy, and very beautifully stitched. But the moment you turn the cloth and look at the back, it is messy, untidy and all the shortcuts are visible.
Similarly, this is how we live our life, like sweeping the dirt under the carpet or under the cupboards before a guest arrive. We have social media where people put up pictures of their vacations, their food, sometimes people fake their entire lives on social media, a struggle to acknowledge all the low-downs. Watts explains, if we deny, we do this and claim our embroidery to be the same on both sides, it would be a big lie. “You are deceiving yourself, then what you are doing is taking the shortcuts in another dimension, and keeping it out of your consciousness.”
There is some kind of duplicity and deception in all of us, playing such small tricks, without knowing who are we really fooling? Are we just ourselves?
This is the way we live our lives until we realize the lack of depth, and admit the duplicity, and begin to peel off the layers. Turn the embroidery around at times to look at the underside. We all need a reality check once in a while!
