When we grow up, in most cases, we lose this innate ability of wonderment. I recently read an article that mentioned the importance of cultivating experiences of awe, not only in children but also in adults, as such experiences can leave us feeling inspired and energized.
Awe is such an important emotion to feel, it's the ability to revere things, treat things as sacred as it transforms our understanding of the world. Awe has this quality of vastness in it, something bigger than you. It keeps you grounded.
Nature is a wonderful source of awe and wonder. When I think about moments of awe and wonder in my life it brought back memories of our trip to the mountains - the mesmerising landscapes, snow-capped peaks and crystal clear stream flowing through the rough terrain and the freshness in the air - such an experience is awe-inspiring, riveting and divine.
Even spiritual experiences bring that feeling of awe, do you remember such awe-inspiring moments in your life when you were struck by the absolute beauty of a piece of music, art, nature, or in awe of a person, it can be absolutely anything that speaks to your soul?
Today, even researchers are discovering the benefits of awe on thinking, health, well-being and close relationships. If life gets too busy, step out of your office for 20 minutes, take a walk outside to wander, even if it’s in a familiar locality, be curious like a child, and feel the change within!
