Hello Beautiful People, I consider religions to be rigid, from rituals to obligations that one must perform. For example in Jainism, Bhavika's cousin just completed a 30-day water fast - which means no eating, and only drinking boiled water - this actually makes the month of Ramadan or Lent seem far easier.
Then for Christians, the need to go to church every Sunday is an obligation, similarly, in Hinduism there are multiple days of fasting, Buddhism too has its own set of rigidness.
Now I kind of subscribe to all religions, to a certain extent, so a few times a year you will find me in a church or gurudwara or temple. A few times in a year I also do a couple of rituals like lighting incense and cleansing the house.
But throughout the year, some Buddhist practices make it so easy to follow, such as prayer flags. Prayer flags are little flags with mantras written on them, the most common is "Om Mane Padme Hum." The belief is when it flutters in the breeze it's equal to you reciting the mantra. So my car always has prayer flags tied to the back windscreen and this means every time I'm driving, I'm also praying.
But what's even better is that in each prayer wheel, apart from its unique design, has tiny pieces of folded paper with Mantras written in them. Some prayer wheels can have multiple mantras in them, even reaching 100s and every time you spin it, it's equal to reciting all those mantras.
Doesn't this cut you some slack when you're bound to life's hustle and bustle? It's like the further we drive the longer we pray :) Do you have any rituals or methods that brings in blessings with ease? Do share!
Thank you.
