Dear ,

Rains, the bringer of life and love, one can't help but notice that all the flora and fauna are multiplying. After the hot spell of summer, the monsoon paints the landscape with shades of green with white waterfalls.

Those of you who have been here probably know we run a farm stay, I spend around three days a week there and then come back home. This helps me work on the farm as well as get the place ready for the guests.

Last week, as I sat in the back porch enjoying the rain pouring down, I watched how the Mynas and Baya weaver birds were soaked yet scavenging for food for their young ones.

The Mynas' nest is located on the pillar that supports the roof of the porch, so when I'm sitting there, the birds have to muster up courage to feed the young with a little frog or worm in their beaks. Each visit is greeted by at least 4 little ones begging with mouths wide open.

This means the mother and father have to make multiple trips through the day to ensure their babies are well-fed. Now, while their job does not span multiple years, it probably equals to the same amount of time when it comes to lifespans. From the time they build their nest, to the time they finally can start flying about on their own.

It makes me wonder, do the bird parents teach their little ones about organic worms and junk leftovers from a packet of chips? :) Do they compare their offspring to their friends who flew faster? They surely don't have to worry about screen time, and more so are all Myna parents good parents?

With our three kids growing up, life can be pretty tough, with peer pressure and choosing a slower, more basic life in a society jumping from one tech advancement and changing technologies to keep up with the cycles of demand. We have rooted ourselves in feeble cultures rather than synchronizing the beat of our drum with mother nature. Looking into nature can really inspire and teach you the basics of simplicity parenting.
