As a child I used to have a “Bible stories for Children” and I did enjoy reading the parables. Being in a religious household which had its own set of issues, drove me away from the religious aspect, but I loved parables.
Now I have recently revisited stories and an occasional trip to church for peace in the household leads me to understand those Bible Stories from a new light.
Do you remember the story of Jesus walking on water, during a storm and the disciples saw him and thought it was a ghost. But he told them not to fear and Peter wanted to walk on water too but he was scared. As he approached Jesus he started to sink and asked Jesus to give him a hand and help him.
Jesus told him not to be afraid and to have faith.
While most of my life I took this literally, as I read this story as a child, but what if the boat ride is our life, the rough sea are the troubles we have and then like Peter our lack of faith in a higher power or even within ourselves makes the waters rise around us.
I’m happy to have been given a new perspective of seeing this, walking on water denotes something that is really powerful or unimaginable, it could also be put as someone going out of their way to ensure you have a helping hand.
This is what faith is, to know that you’re being taken care of, even when you’re in the lowest phase of your life, believe in your self and that something more powerful is guiding you on your journey!
