Every morning, a farmer would wake up and go to fill water for his families' consumption from a well a mile away from his place.
He had two pots, one was new and the other one was slightly cracked, and a little water would drip out from the crack everyday on his way home.
As the days went by the farmer noticed the cracked pot was not its chirpy self any more. After a few days it seemed like the pot had slipped into depression and the farmer finally asked the pot what was wrong when they reached home after their morning trip.
The pot spoke about how worthless it is now, and that because it's leaking it does not fulfil its duty. It does not bring in as much water as the other pot.
This took the farmer by surprise, he picked up the pot and ran towards the well. He asked the pot do you see the well from here, the pot said yes. Do you see all the way to well, there's one path of green grass and flowers leading to it.
The pot replied yes, I do. Do you know why? The farmer asked the pot. Unfortunately, in the gloomy state that the Pot was in, he could not think of itself as being the creator of such beauty. The farmer exclaimed, it's because of you! Without you dripping down water each day, none of this would have happened.
There would be no flowers or grass or beauty on our path! Every day you water the ground where these beautiful flowers have grown. You're a bringer of life! This of course made the pot really happy and realise its own self-worth!
This is an important lesson for each of us, if we only focus on our flaws and wrongdoings we can sometimes slip into this loop where we fail to recognize the good in ourselves and this can also be applied to our perception of others.
