You Know What Breaks me, When Someone is Visibly Excited

0

You know what breaks me, when someone is visibly excited about a feeling or an idea or a hope or a risk taken, and they tell you about it but preface it with: “Sorry, this is dumb but-.”Don’t do that. I don’t know who came here before me, or who conditioned you to think you had to apologize or feel obtuse. But not here. Dreams so big it’s silly. Laugh so hard it’s obnoxious. Love so much it’s impossible. And don’t you ever feel unintelligent. And don’t you ever apologize. And don’t you ever shrink so you can squeeze yourself into small places and small minds. Grow. It’s a big world. You fit. I promise.

I Like People who Begin by Blurting Out Something Overly Personal

0

I like people who begin by blurting out something overly personal. I like people who aren’t afraid to walk around with a stain on their shirt. I like people who ugly laugh at their own jokes. I like people who give compliments to strangers in the grocery store and make friends when they’re washing their hands in the bathroom.
I like people who get passionate about ideas and excited about others’ success stories. I like people who live a little outside of the box, who march to the beat of their own drum, and who make it a mission to help those around them.

Maybe it’s Not Supposed to Be Easy for You

0

Maybe it’s not supposed to be easy for you. Maybe you’re one of the rare few who can handle tough times and still choose to be a loving person. Maybe it’s going how it’s going because you’re built for it. Maybe you still have time to choose to be different and God would rather slow it all down and frustrate you than to let it keep going the way it is and fail you. Maybe it’s just your time to refine. Maybe the pieces are being put in position and maybe it’s not a test at all, maybe it’s all being prepared for your good and rushing it could ruin it… Maybe you’re as different as you feel and maybe you’ll stay strong long enough to teach other people to feel the same about themselves. Maybe we’ll call it love. Maybe this is just the way your growth looks and it’s okay to accept that. As long as you know you’re giving it your all and the very best of you, keep going! Don’t stress a thing. It’s going to work out because you’re not going to stop putting the work in.

Someone Will Come Along. Someone Who Understands

0

Someone will come along. Someone who understands that you get jealous and anxious. Someone who knows the fears you have rooted deep in your past and holds you when you’re feeling scared. Someone who can’t dance but dances with you anyway. They can’t sing but they’ll sing to you anyway. They’ll love any gift you give even when it’s the wrong size and they’ll love anything you cook for them even when it’s burnt. They’ll make you laugh until you cry and know exactly what to say to make you smile. They’ll leave you feeling helplessly unapologetically happy as you fall asleep at night. You’ll wonder how you ever got so lucky. Just be patient. Someone will come along.

Maybe Some Things Don’t Get Better

0

Maybe some things don’t get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations, as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can’t. Maybe some of us will never be fully okay, but we’re here. We’re still trying. We’re doing the best we can. That’s worth celebrating too. If you’re reading this, congratulations, you made it today. You made it.
