6 Ways to Find Your Life’s Purpose

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

We each have a mission, that’s for sure, although it may be as simple as having your options open and seeing what happens to arrive in front of you. Our life purpose, through the lens of Consumerism, tells us that we’re never good enough.

That we must save the world and become superhuman. That may of course, be possible. But we will first need to adjust our focus and anoint our lens with a generous layer of self love in order to discover what magic radiates from the true observer within.

Here are 6 methods for beginning to discover that life purpose (deep down you already know it):

Release all expectations

Try letting go of all pretence. Let go of all expectations of yourself; all visions, all words of encouragement, all narratives family members or friends have fed you over the years. Let go of your teachers, your childhood dreams. Let it all dissolve and let yourself off the hook.

This may mean ‘giving up’ in as much as you’re tricking the mind and the ego to relax for a moment. Let silence flow through you. Switch off your usual currents and listen to the dial tone. That’s where the magic will begin whispering to you. That’s where your truth waits.

You’ve already been doing your life purpose, just not in the commercially viable sense. What hobbies have you been drawn to your whole life? What do you love to do in your spare time?

This may be something like talking through people’s problems with them, writing stories or making people laugh. Strip your joys down to the bone and simplify them. Don’t try to skip ahead and definitely don’t allow the mind to put those joys into form.

Make a list of things you enjoy to do and put it over your bed. If this is the nuts and bolts of what you love, your favourite will grow on its own.
