What does it mean to create something new that the universe has never seen? It means innovation. It means technological advancement. It means reaching for the stars despite our short arms. Taken to the nth degree, it means striving towards a progressive evolution that flips the “natural” script.

It is a delicate balance at best and a precarious one at worst, but it is almost certainly inevitable. As long as we can remain a surviving species on this planet, and as long as we strive for self-improvement, innovation, and progressive evolution, even the sky is not the limit. We are a technological animal, after all. Technology is as much akin to being human as spinning webs is akin to spiders.

As Terence McKenna said, “Technology is the real skin of our species.” But to what end? Where do we draw the line, and should we?
