Four Theories About the Independent Consciousness of Thought

“The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.” ~ Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

We all know that thinking good thoughts is a wise idea. We especially know that good thoughts, perhaps through universal laws we intuitively sense are there, can bring about immense positive change and be mechanisms for progression and peace. But how much do we really know about our thoughts?

Perhaps they’re not the impersonal, intangible creations we think they are. Perhaps we don’t even create them but are ‘caught’ and riffled through, selected out of thin air becoming part of us forming some sort of parasitic relationship with us, their host.

Some even believe that thought forms are negative memes that have been generated by fear-spreading media or the matrix itself and are floating around above our heads just waiting to infect somebody. Is reality truthfully absent of thought and projection the adoption of thought or is thought essential for us to create our reality in the first place?

Here are four theories to explore the nature (and independence) of thought:

“The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” ~ Buddha

Memes

Richard Dawkins coined this neologism to describe the independence of a collection of thoughts which can be measured by unit; that is of the ‘Meme.’ The concept of a meme has been obscured somewhat since its first appearance. It now feeds viral marketing and mindless distractions on social media, but the original implications of the meme are quite extraordinary.
